Day 1 · Disaster recovery concepts and normative framework
- Fundamental concepts and principles of disaster recovery
- Normative framework and alignment with ISO 22301 (continuity) and ISO/IEC 27031 (ICT resilience)
- Understanding the organisation, its context and the scope of the recovery programme
Day 2 · Analysis: BIA, RTO/RPO and risk assessment
- Business impact analysis (BIA) and identification of critical processes
- Setting objectives: RTO, RPO and WRT
- Risk assessment and identification of disaster scenarios
Day 3 · Recovery strategies and DRP design
- Recovery strategies: cold, warm and hot sites, cloud recovery
- Designing the recovery architecture and choosing technical solutions
- Developing and writing the disaster recovery plan (DRP)
Day 4 · Implementation, testing and exercises
- Implementing the recovery plan and operational procedures
- Designing and running tests and exercises (table-top, simulation, live failover)
- Incident management, crisis communication and team coordination
Day 5 · Measurement, continual improvement and certification exam
- Monitoring, measurement, audit and maintenance of the recovery plan
- Continual improvement and review of the DRP
- Official "PECB Certified Lead Disaster Recovery Manager" exam (3 hours)
Exam, credits & certification
Once you pass the exam, you can apply for the "PECB Certified Lead Disaster Recovery Manager" credential. The exam includes 2 attempts: the first plus a free retake, usable within the following 12 months. Passing first time is no longer a source of pressure. CPD credits correspond to the course level according to PECB. The exam duration is indicative; ask me for the exact details when you enrol.
